   Before you Depart
Check for the validity of your Indian passport. Indian passport has to be valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure.
Get your Foreign Exchange endorsed on your passport.
Check whether your tickets have been issued as required, and also re-confirm your reservations.
Keep original passport + ticket + mediclaim, along with 2 photocopies of each and extra handy photographs (preferably in separate bags).

Carry complete medication doses, if needed.

 

  At the Airport
Collect your Embarkation Card and check your baggage tags.
You may have to pay airport taxes.
Please check your, seat request and meal request, at the check-in counter.
Get your EXIT stamp at Immigration Counter.
Declare all personal items and currency at customs.

Remember, Duty Free Shopping, is payable in US$ only.

 

   On Arrival

If you are in transit at an airport, then you are not allowed to exit the airport building.
Get your ENTRY permit stamped on your passport. your foreign exchange may also be inspected, along with a few questions.
Please convert your money into local currency.

Depending on your flight and tour package, there will be a transfer coach waiting for you.


   Business Documents
The necessary items include blank official letterheads, visiting cards and company brochures.
Brochures, that are to be published for your overseas market, should be well designed. They should be very explicit and attractive.

Take plenty of business cards, especially if the purpose of your visit is to attend or participate in a trade fair. It is important that these should be of high quality. Ensure that the ISD code of your Indian city as well as INDIA is mentioned at the end of the company’s address.

   Weather Watch

It is advisable to carry warm clothes as Germany is a mildly cold region, as it lies between the Atlantic Ocean and the East, having the continental climate. Generally, it is always colder in Germany as Rainfall happens all year round. In winter, the average temperature fluctuates between 1.5 degrees centigrade in low-lying regions and 6 degrees centigrade in the hills. Even in summer, the temperature rarely exceeds 28 degrees Celsius and sometimes it may be cool & rainy in summer as well.

Business suits or combinations are recommended for all businessmen, attending the business fairs. A tie is also a must.

Refund of Taxes
Refund of taxes on your purchase in Europe, Britain and other European countries, Value added Tax (VAT) is charged on most goods at a standard rate of 15%. Some stores offer relief from VAT under the retail exports scheme.

The counter export scheme enables you to take possession of your purchased items immediately, with the retail export scheme form. This form must be filled by the shopkeeper and presented, with the goods you are exporting to the customs officer, for certification on departing from the country border / airport, to another country. After the bill is certified by the customs, send it to those shopkeepers from whom you made those purchases.

The refund will be sent to your address. It is advisable to tell the shopkeeper in advance, before making a purchase, that you want to claim refund of VAT. You need to show your passport if you wish to take the advantages of this scheme. So do not forget to take it with you when you go for shopping. Some stores specify a minimum value for goods, purchased under this scheme.
